Maria Teresa A. Salabit is a Supervising Science Research Specialist of the Nuclear Safeguards and Security Section of the Nuclear Regulatory Division of the Philippine Nuclear Research Institute (PNRI). She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry at the Philippine Normal College in 1987 and finished her Master’s degree in Public Management at the Ateneo de Manila University in 2013.
She started working at the PNRI in 1989 and worked under the Radioisotope Production Section until 2005 and later transferred to the Nuclear Safeguards and Security Section where she became actively involved in the implementation of Nuclear security activities specially in transport security of radioactive material related to the physical protection of nuclear and radioactive materials in the Philippines. Ms. Salabit was also a trained CBRN instructor and has provided numerous lectures on nuclear and radiological concerns of the CBRNE to various government response organizations in the Philippines.
She is strongly dedicated to protect people and environment against terrorism with malevolent intent to use nuclear or radioactive material.
