Mr. Nagayoshi is the Director for International Nuclear Energy Cooperation of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MOFA), a position he has held since July 2020. He is responsible for foreign relations both bilateral and multilateral in the field of peaceful use of nuclear energy. Prior to the current post, he served as Deputy Consul General of Japan in San Francisco and Senior Coordinator for nuclear cooperation agreements at the MOFA. He has served in a variety of positions in Tokyo, dealing with nuclear nonproliferation, nuclear safety, maritime security and conventional arms. During the posts, he engaged in international fora such as NPT, Nuclear Security Summits. G7 Nuclear Safety and Security Group, and Global Initiative to Combat Nuclear Terrorism. He also participated in the negotiation of drafting texts of multilateral treaties such as the International Convention for the Suppression of Acts of Nuclear Terrorism, and Joint Convention on the Safety of Spent Fuel Management and on the Safety of Radioactive Waste Management. He earned graduate degrees from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) and the University of Sheffield, England.
