SOUTH AMERICAN REGIONAL TRANSPORT SECURITY SERIES

An interactive virtual forum on the Security of Nuclear and Radioactive Material During Transport

Weekly sessions begin March 3, 2021

All sessions will be held using English/Spanish Remote Simultaneous Interpretation

The South America Regional Transportation Security Series (SARTSS) seeks to increase awareness of the specific threats and risks associated with the transport of nuclear and other radioactive materials.

This virtual series is jointly hosted by the Colombian Ministry of Mines and Energy (MME) and The National Nuclear Security Administration (NNSA) of the United States of America. It is designed to promote regional dialogue about the need to secure these materials during transport.

Sessions feature panel discussions with breakout rooms to explore emerging threats, critical weaknesses in current transport practices, successful transport security practices, and other related national and/or regional issues.

Audience

  • Competent Authorities
  • Regulatory organizations with responsibilities that may involve transport for Class 7 dangerous goods
  • National security, law enforcement, or response organizations who are responsible for developing and implementing security-related policies and procedures that govern the transportation of nuclear and radioactive materials
  • Other governmental agencies that have a role in oversight, threat assessments, or response to a malicious event during transport

The following practitioners are also invited to attend and share diverse perspectives that help enrich dialogue and strengthen the sense of community: representatives from Ministries of Foreign Affairs, private operators, carriers, shippers/receivers, and industry representatives.
