Ben Whittard

Ben Whittard is the Director of Safety, Security & Environment (SSE) at International Nuclear Services (INS).

Ben joined INS in 2013 from the UK’s Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR) where he served for 5 years’ as a Senior Inspector covering the UK’s nuclear transport sector and the Sellafield nuclear complex. Ben has an MSc in International Security from the University of Bristol, is a Certified Chief Information Security Officer (CCISO) and is a Member of the UK’s Security Institute.

In 2019, Ben was awarded the prestigious ‘Presidents Award’ by the UK’s Security Institute for his achievements in nuclear security and efforts to build capacity and capability in nuclear transportation globally. Ben is currently Chair of the World Nuclear Transport Institute’s (WNTI) Transport Security Working Group and speaks regularly around the world on nuclear safety, security and resilience matters.
