Sorin Repanovici is an expert in nuclear security and physical protection of nuclear installations and nuclear materials within the National Commission for Nuclear Activities Control (CNCAN), the national authority responsible for the authorization, regulation and control of nuclear activities of Romania.
He has been working at CNCAN since 2003 and has held various functions including Director of the Regulatory Authority President’s Office, International Relations Advisor, Head of the Physical Protection Section and Nuclear Safeguards Coordinator. Sorin’s current responsibilities include the physical protection of nuclear materials and installations, and the security of the transport of nuclear material. He is the point of contact for IAEA ITDB to prevent illicit trafficking of nuclear materials and the national point of contact for preventing and fighting nuclear terrorism. Sorin is also National Coordinator for both DOE and Norwegian security programmes.
He is a graduate of the G.C. Marshall European College for Advance Security Studies from Garmisch-Partenchirken – Germany, and the Romanian Diplomatic Institute – Security and Diplomacy, and has obtained various professional IAEA and EC certifications.
